POLLUTION RISK

A license was given a couple of years ago to various teams to practice with their kayak (canoes) in Yermasogia dam.  What we have recently seen are three (3) speedboats with diesel engines in the dam.  Did anybody give them permission to use such boats?  Do the Government officials know that?  And if a license was given, what about a possible leak of oil or diesel in the dam?  Do the government officials know that one drop of diesel oil can pollute 25 liters of water?  After all the dam water is used as drinking water (potable water).  Did anybody consider the consequences of a possible pollution?  Why is everything  left to luck in this country?  When are we going to act as responsible people?  A possible oil pollution can destroy the ecosystem which took so many years to develop.  The oil will penetrate the dam soil and that will be the end of yet another dam on the island.  But who cares anyway? Already three other dams are polluted and nobody gives a s..t. Athalassa dam in Nicosia, Achna dam in Famagusta and Polemidia dam in Limassol.  So, what if another one joins the club?  The big difference is that we are talking about one of the most important dams for drinking water and wildlife.

WAKE UP !!!   DO SOMETHING !!!

These guys have built a dock and use the dam as if it belongs to them.  Does anybody care to check what they are doing? How about the Yermasogia Municipality?  What is their role in this?
