YOUR OPINION COUNTS

There is no doubt that a lot must be done to preserve and protect the resources of our country.  The Fisheries and other Government departments have well educated and trained personnel.  However, being government employees and having to go though the bureaucracy and procedures for every single issue, makes it very difficult for them to act in time.  And our sea and dams need immediate attention.  Especially when it has to do with people breaking the law (fires, illegal methods of fishing, littering, camping near dams, etc...).

The government officials cannot be based on rumors or verbal complaints.  This is how government organizations work.  We cannot change that.  What we can change though, is the way we provide the information, complains or suggestions to the appropriate departments.

The Fisheries department employees are willing to help, but they have to convince their bosses or other bodies (Water dept, police, municipalities, etc...) about an issue, before something can be done.  The only way to do this, is by presenting written "proof".  If there is a written report, nobody can ignore it.  They will have to do something about it sooner or later.  The more people sending in reports, the better.

This is where you come in.  Send us your written comments, observations, complaints or suggestions.  We will, in turn, prepare a report and forward it to the appropriate officers at the Fisheries department.  We can include your name or use the web site as the sender.  This is up to you.  Keep in mind though, that signed reports can put much higher pressure.  Photographs are very, very useful.  So, don't forget to take your camera with you on your next fishing trip.  If you don't have a digital camera, or scanner, then contact us for a postal address to send a hard copy.

Please report anything illegal or out of the ordinary that you see, any fish that you caught but were not supposed to exist in the particular dam, etc... Don't forget that a photo is very important.  We can all make a difference if we try hard enough.
